Galerie Kremers veranstaltet am Samstag, 6. November 2021 um 19:00 Uhr die Musikperformance „War is Family“ im Rahmen der Gruppenausstellung „Hokuspokus – Künstler:innen als Schamanen“.

Konrad Kinard stammt ursprünglich aus Texas und ist eine bekannte Größe in der Independent – Musikszene nicht nur in New York und London, sondern auch in Berlin, wo er in den 90-er Jahren den Club „Sexiland“ in der Rosenthaler Straße und die Bar „S.I.N. – Projekt Space“ in der Schönleinstraße ins Leben gerufen hat.
Neben verschiedenen Beteiligungen und Produktionen international wie z.B. in der NDW  – Band Malaria mit Bettina Köster hat Konrad Kinard auch eigene Kompositionen auf die Bühne gebracht.
„War is Family“  ist  eine Produktion ganz besonderer Art. In dieser autobiographisch geprägten, eindringlichen Performance aus Rezitation, Gesang und Musik beschwört er die Atmosphäre herauf, die er als Heranwachsender in den 60er Jahren zu Zeiten des Kalten Krieges in Texas erlebt. Die Allgegenwart der nuklearen Bedrohung und des Vietnamkrieges ist greifbar. Kontrastiert wird dieses Szenario durch die prägnante, hymnische Beschreibung Berlins, wo dem Protagonisten auf sehr persönliche Art und Weise die Augen für die historische und politische Realität geöffnet wird.

Die Veranstaltung findet unter den Bedingungen der 2G Regelung statt, d.h. Einlass für Geimpfte und Genesene bei Vorlage eines entsprechenden Nachweises. Dafür entfällt die Masken- und Abstandspflicht. Für alle die, die nicht anwesend sein können: Die Performance wird aufgezeichnet und kann später als Live-Mitschnitt gestreamt werden. Wir bitten um verbindliche Anmeldung unter info@galerie-kremers.de. Die Anzahl der Besucher ist auf 50 begrenzt.

Galerie Kremers hosts the music performance „War is Family“ on Saturday, 6 November 2021 at 7:00 pm as part of the group exhibition „Hocus Pocus – Artists as Shamans“.

Konrad Kinard is originally from Texas and is a well-known figure in the independent music scene not only in New York and London, but also in Berlin, where he founded the club „Sexiland“ in Rosenthaler Straße and the bar „S.I.N. – Projekt Space“ in Schönleinstraße in the 1990s.

In addition to various participations and productions internationally, such as in the NDW band Malaria with Bettina Köster, Konrad Kinard has also brought his own compositions to the stage.

„War is Family“ is a very special production. In this autobiographical, haunting performance of recitation, song and music, he conjures up the atmosphere he experienced growing up in Texas in the 1960s during the Cold War. The omnipresence of the nuclear threat and the Vietnam War is palpable. This scenario is contrasted by the concise, hymn-like description of Berlin, where the protagonist’s eyes are opened to historical and political reality in a very personal way.

The event will take place under the conditions of the 2G regulation, i.e. admission for vaccinated and recovered persons on presentation of appropriate proof. In return, there will be no obligation to wear a mask or to keep a distance. For all those who cannot be present: The performance will be recorded and can be streamed later as a live recording. We ask for binding registration at info@galerie-kremers.de.
