until 16.04. | #3382ARTatBerlin | Jarmuschek + Partner presents from 25th March 2022 the solo exhibition schweben, stürzen, fliegen with new works by the artist Elisa Manig – for the first time installative objects and drawings.
The Hamburg-based artist puts us in an intense state of physical and sensual engagement. Like in a whirl, we as viewers try to orient ourselves and to fathom the relationship of her works to the surrounding space.
band, 2021, wood, Aludibond, Lacquer, 90 x 83 x 11 cm
But again and again we encounter irritations and supposedly impossible constellations in which weight, gravity, tension and dynamics seem to follow new laws. With a reduced formal language and often cheerful, light colours, the artist processes elements from our everyday world.
fit in, 2021, wood, lacquer, 7 x 62 x 2,5 cm
In her works, Elisa Manig plays not only with our visual experience but also with our fundamental understanding of how our physical world works.
klapp, 2022, steel, 82 x 42 x 8 cm
With disturbing ease, she questions our intuitive ability to react, exposes our very own human impulses and protective instincts and takes them ad absurdum.
bucket, 2022, Aludibond, wood, steel, lacquer, 110 x 82 x 25 cm
By undermining our ability to assess our environment, she is able to unsettle us: What do we really see here? Can we trust our perception? And do we have to take action ourselves so that everything doesn’t fall into pieces in the next moment?
Feder, 2022, steel, 16 x 21 x 16 cm
