Benhadj & Djilali is a commercial gallery and simultaneously a cultural venue for non-commercial and socially relevant exhibitions and art projects, which aim to attract widespread attention among the public and the media. Yasmine Benhadj-Djilali, curator of ONE DAY | BERLIN is extending the exhibition and turning the Benhadj & Djilali gallery into a ‘temporary museum’ for a whole year. About the exhibition: In ONE DAY | BERLIN, an exhibition about the Mexico_US border, Adrian Sierra Garcia transforms the way we perceive and occupy time and space at Benhadj & Djilali Gallery, alluding to the life-threatening challenges people experience when they cross ‘la linea’, the vast frontier, with an omnipresent foreign object reflecting on the violent nature and intruding character of the border wall. Adrian Sierra Garcia (see photo) wishes to pay tribute to all those inflicted by the ‘iron curtain’ that separates the two nations. At the same time, the artist would like to sensitize the general public to the human conditions happening along the dangerous border. Berlinische Galerie – Museum for Modern Art, Photography and Architecture

The Berlinische Galerie is one of the newest museums in the German capital and collects art from Berlin dating from 1870 to the present day – with both a local and international focus. Founded in 1975, the State Museum reopened in its own building close to the Jewish Museum in 2004, moving into a spacious industrial hall that has been rebuilt to provide 4,600 square metres of exhibition space. Fine art – painting, graphics, sculpture, multimedia – photography, architecture and artists’ archives provide a rich source, whose interdisciplinary relationships create exciting dialogues. Its outstanding collections include Dada Berlin, the Neue Sachlichkeit (New Objectivity) and the Eastern European avant-garde. Kunsthaus Dahlem

Kunsthaus Dahlem is an exhibition venue for postwar German modernism (East and West). It is administered and operated by Atelierhaus Dahlem, a non-profit subsidiary of the Bernhard Heiliger Foundation founded in 2013. Located at the edge of the Grunewald, the building was open as an exhibition venue in summer 2015 after a renovation and dismantling in accordance with historic preservation standards. There will also be a permanent exhibition on the building’s eventful history, free-of-charge to visitors. One essential area of concentration of the exhibition venue is the presentation of sculpture, supplemented by painting, prints and drawings, and photography. The New National Gallery is closed since January 2015 unfortunately for several years due to important and substantial restructuring and is only involved sporadically in cultural events (for example, Berlin Art Week 2015) . Nevertheless, it’s worth a walk around the only building by the famous German-American architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe built after WW2 in Germany. Because it is located near the Cultural Forum (Kulturforum), the Philharmonic (Philharmonie), the Potsdamer Platz and the new gallery district at Potsdamer Straße, a visit can be combined perfectly. Founded in 1696, the Akademie der Künste (Academy of Arts) in Berlin is one of the oldest cultural institutes in Europe. This international community of artists currently has about 400 members and includes the sections fine arts, architecture, music, literature, performing arts, as well as film and media art. Exhibitions, concerts, debates, readings, award ceremonies, film, theater and dance performances are organized here. In addition to the main building, the Akademie der Künste at Hanseatenweg is also an important location for exhibitions, events and meetings. KW Institute for Contemporary Art aims to approach the central questions of our times through the production, display, and dissemination of contemporary art. Since its inception, 25 years ago, KW has established itself, not only as an institution, but also as a dynamic and lively space for progressive practices within the Berlin art scene, as well as in an international context. By means of exhibitions and various event formats, KW has aligned itself towards the current tendencies of the national and international art and cultural discourse, and has actively developed them on a collaborative level with artists, institutions, and by means of commissioned works. As an institution for contemporary art without a collection of its own, the team at KW maintains a high degree of flexibility in creating its programs and addressing its audience. Under the responsibility of director Krist Gruijthuijsen, the current program evolves around the central objective of using the participating artists’ perspective as a starting point, entailing their subjects and points of view as ways to reflect on social and political issues. me Collectors Room Berlin of the Olbricht Foundation was founded in 2010. Initiator is Thomas Olbricht. Exhibits from the art collection of Thomas Olbricht and other international art collectors are shown here. In the so-called Wunderkammer, around 200 Renaissance and Baroque exhibits are on permanent display. At me Collectors Room, you find a nice café with various drinks and delicious food. Kunsthaus Dahlem

Kunsthaus Dahlem is an exhibition venue for postwar German modernism (East and West). It is administered and operated by Atelierhaus Dahlem, a non-profit subsidiary of the Bernhard Heiliger Foundation founded in 2013. Located at the edge of the Grunewald, the building was open as an exhibition venue in summer 2015 after a renovation and dismantling in accordance with historic preservation standards. There will also be a permanent exhibition on the building’s eventful history, free-of-charge to visitors. One essential area of concentration of the exhibition venue is the presentation of sculpture, supplemented by painting, prints and drawings, and photography. The Verein Berliner Künstler (VBK) House of Artists – more than a gallery – is a self-governing and independent association of visual artists living and / or working in Berlin. The club’s own gallery on Schöneberger Ufer acts as a platform for various exhibition formats and discourse events. In addition, the VBK cooperates with national and international organizations and implements art projects in Germany and abroad. Founded in 1841, the VBK is the oldest association of artists in Germany and currently represents 120 active members. The Galerie Verein Berliner Künstler is located at Schöneberger Ufer 57 Berlin-Tiergarten, close to the Neue Nationalgalerie.
