until 27.01. | #4096ARTatBerlin | ZWINGER Galerie shows from 18. November 2023 (Opening: 17.11.) the exhibition mother cloud by the artist Ueli Etter in collaboration with BOYS DO CERAMICS.

Clouds and vases. They already appear in the adventure park designed by Ueli Etter in the 1990s, which promises “final entertainment”. They adorn the various pavilions, monuments and hotels as drawings, prints or fictional objects.

Here now is the task, the attempt to capture clouds and their peculiar materiality in sculpture – the phenomenon of their growth, their parts and in their entirety – in bronze, glass, plaster, porcelain and concrete. Light, but not weightless, they sometimes become luminaires. In contrast, the vases: The inverted, the hidden, the secret that has taken shape, their barely visible inner life. The “Mother of Pearls”, for example, is a spherical vase with an inconspicuous exterior but a glamorous interior that can only be seen through a round opening with a small diameter. The vase as camera obscura and parable of the cave. Its ambiguous, split nature between function and representation: a symbol of the fragile and a predicted destiny, the fulfilment of which is the shard.
