extended until 16.03. | #2263ARTatBerlin | Galerie Bastian currently presents its last exhibition – THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN’ with seven artist spaces.

Galerie Bastian is pleased to present the Group Exhibition THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN’ with seven artist spaces.

The works of the following artists are presented: Mark Alexander, Joseph Beuys, Anselm Kiefer, Christopher Orr, Paul Wallach, Andy Warhol und Wim Wenders.

In the new year Ulrich Erben will replace the current Wim Wenders exhibition on the ground floor.

“”THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN'” (Bob Dylan), title of our exhibition, quote from a song by Bob Dylan, says more about space and time than about an artists’ program. And so the upcoming last exhibition in our gallery Am Kupfergraben combines a farewell and a new beginning. Almost a decade of work ends at a truly unique location in the context of Berlin’s Museum Island. We had the good fortune to build David Chipperfield in a very special topography, a much-noticed house; the courage to build this house now combines with the joy of handing it over as a gift from the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation in January 2019. The house will determine its own future in a new cultural context.

We will build a new house at another location in Berlin, continue the exhibitions and at the same time start the gallery’s activities in a branch in London’s Mayfair at the end of this year.

Our last exhibition, Am Kupfergraben, presents divergent, motivic images of thought in rooms dedicated to the works of individual artists. The dialogue between the works of Joseph Beuys and Anselm Kiefer is one of the essential motifs of the exhibition.
At the centre of this presentation, however, is once again the commitment to Joseph Beuys, whose works in the second half of the last century ‘wrote’ a new language of art in seemingly archaic architectures and forms: no monuments of museum splendour and appropriation, no monuments of happiness! Instead, existential questions about the fundamental significance of art.”
