until 15.04. | #3743ARTatBerlin | Galerie kajetan Berlin presents from 18. February 2023 (Opening: 17.02.) the solo exhibition Textiles by the artist Marc Goroncy. This is the first solo exhibition of the young textile artist and painter Marc Goroncy (*1990).

Marc Goroncy’s textile abstractions, which are displayed on stretched surfaces, are primarily an ongoing process that is reflected in the work itself, as is his entire body of work in general, which explores the creation of abstract images in a free and unrestricted manner.

Marc Goroncy’s work features clear and precise strokes, stitches (mostly machine stitching), lines, textile pieces, and structures that are softened by hand into the fabric, leading to a symbiosis of the craft of sewing and abstract painting or drawing. The creation of paintings involves various factors, including the artist’s personal interests and an intuitive approach.

Marc Goroncy’s textile artworks use variations in pattern either through repetition in a rhythmic sequence or through proportional changes to create a unique sense of scale in each individual work. In this sense, Goroncy’s works also reveal connections between each other, each of which otherwise avoids creating an illusion of depth or referring to anything outside of the picture.

Goroncy’s artworks showcase both vertically and horizontally oriented markings, giving equal importance to lines, surfaces, forms, and colors. This approach often results in decorative or freely irregular patterns that reject any one-dimensional perspective or a dominant, centralized viewpoint.

The artist’s artwork repeatedly reenacts the process of its own creation and the steps taken to prepare it for display, even while it is being observed by viewers.
