until 12.01. | #2273ARTatBerlin | Galerie Thomas Schulte shows from 24th November 2018 the solo exhibition subjects of emergency with works by the artist Julian Irlinger.

The exhibition Subjects of Emergency by Julian Irlinger is dedicated to the reconstruction of a historical relation between aesthetics and ideology in artistic production. The artist’s source material is banknotes of the emergency currency which circulated during inflation in Germany (1918-1923) as a parallel currency to the Mark of the Reichsbank. Printed on the bills were pictures by artists, which often had political backgrounds. The details of the money reproduced by Irlinger have a seductive quality and show a subtle sense of humor as well as the dark side of the pop culture of the Weimar Republic.

Vernissage: Friday, 23rd November 2018, 7 – 9 pm

Exhibition period: Saturday, 24th November 2018 – Saturday, 12th January 2019
