until 21.07. | #2051ARTatBerlin | Galerie Z22 presents from 16th June 2018 the group exhibition HEIMAT. Von Ver- und Entwurzelten (> HOMELAND. From rooted and uprooted).

The “Süddeutsche Zeitung” recently dedicated a series of articles to the term “homeland” and Germany is setting up a homeland office. Immense refugee movements, not for years as usual far away from us, but at our doorstep, let the question of what home means flare up high.

Around the world, artists are dealing with this topic, which becomes an important topic for them personally in a globalized world.

There are as many definitions of home as there are people – home is a personal feeling, a yearning.

How do you understand uprooted homeland and how those who are condemned by political regimes like in North Korea or once in the GDR, to live close, isolated and without alternative homeland? How does one feel home from afar and how does it feel close up?

The term home is subject to many different perspectives and personal views. The contemplation of Heimat is fed by a sea of experiences, cultural origin and personal value system.

Homeland can make you happy, but you can also vote desperately. It can be sentimental and martial.

The gallery Z22 shows an artistic cross section of the examination of the topic “homeland”, 25 different positions.
