until 09.04. | #3333ARTatBerlin | RASCHE RIPKEN shows from 18. Februar 2022 the solo exhibition RAUHFASERDACKEL with new works by the artist Eilike Schlenkhoff. It is the second solo exhibition of the artist in the gallery.

Eilike Schlenkhoff deals with pictorial elements of abstract painting such as a brushstroke, a spot of colour or a graphic gesture. In recent years, this has developed into a complex painterly cosmos that continually produces new pictorial sensations – and in dealing with the inherently abstract colour figures, reveals very different ways of playing.

There are, for example, singular brushstrokes that cast a shadow on the picture ground like ominous flying objects. Then again it is a flash of lightning, a thread, a sublime crease that the painter traces in a pointed way. Or whole bundles of brushstrokes emerge, resembling a fountain, an ambiguous organism.

The basis of her pictorial inventions is almost always a monochrome surface, which becomes the sounding board of such colour and form phenomena. Recently, however, there are also wide, cloudy sky spaces to be discovered in her painting. In these, again, sculptural formations appear, a flower perhaps, a thicket or a bird, which emerge solely from the modulation and movement of the colour.
