until 08.01. | #3692ARTatBerlin | Dorothée Nilsson Gallery presents from 5. November 2022 (Opening: 04.11.) the exhibition “Urval” by the artist Dawid.
“Björn Dawidsson, called Dawid, was born 1949. He has long been one of Sweden’s leading photographers, and was among the first to work with conceptual photography. He made his debut in 1973, but his real breakthrough came a decade later with the exhibition Rost (Rust) at Fotografiska Museet (now part of the Moderna Museet in Stockholm). He showed – then as later – how the seeming banality of a rusty or bent nail could be transformed into something unique and artistically expressive. Since then, Dawid’s work has stretched conventional concepts, exploring both what can be deemed to constitute photographic art and the boundary between photography and painting. He has made a name for himself as a kind of painter-photographer.” (Berndt Arell, 2012-2017 Director General, National Museum Stockholm).
