Parallel to Berlin Art Week, the Municipal Galleries in Berlin from 8 to 17 September 2017 will hold the KGB Artweek (= KGB Kunstwoche) for the fourth time in 28 galleries of 12 Berlin districts. With works by more than 400 artists – presented in exhibitions, performances, readings and film presentations – the municipal galleries of Berlin not only show the artistic diversity of the capital. They also invite the audience to participate actively in this week and get to know places that are often a starting point to the international art scene for creatives living and working in Berlin.
Highlights of this art week are, in addition to the artist walks, the three moderated bus tours across the districts, which will also be attended by Klaus Lederer, Senator for Culture and Europe. In addition, the theme night is “Culture in nervous times. On dealing with right-wing populism in the context of art and culture “on 13 September 2017 at 7 pm in the old fire station. In the meanwhile legendary concert night KGB sounds on Friday, September 15, 2017 in the Heimathafen Neukölln perform ZURICAT, KENICHI, JON CAMPBELL, F.S.K. as well as the DJane BIANCA KRUK: artists who have both a stand in music as well as one in the visual arts.
The Municipal Galleries in Berlin cover a total of 4,000 sqm of exhibition space and show up to 200 exhibitions annually, involving around 1000 artists.
At all events the participation is free of charge.
