Bermel von Luxburg Gallery is pleased to present the first solo show of the French artist Thomas Canto in Berlin.

Thomas Canto (b. 1979) is considered as one of the most talented artists of the French contemporary art scene. He transposes his personal vision of his environment onto different medias, proposing an abstract and duplicate vision of the disorganized entanglement of the urban life. For his artworks, he draws his inspiration from his memories and his encounters with cities such as Hong-Kong, New York or Shanghai. Thomas Canto transmits in his work multiple influences such as Constructivism, Suprematism, Op Art and Urban Art.

The concept that structures all his productions is the relation of the Human to the urban landscape. His artworks reflect his inspiration driven by the world-renown master architects such as Zaha Hadid or Tadao Ando. These creations can be experienced as human size installations, tridimensional studioworks and sometimes mirror composed sculpture that creates dialogue between the piece and the environment.

His works have been shown at prestigious global institutions such as Palais de Tokyo (Paris, 2015), Völklingen Biennale of Art (2015 and 2017),  Centre Pompidou (Paris, 2016), K11 Foundation (China, 2015), Mohamed VI Contemporary and Modern Art Museum (Rabat, Marocco, 2015).
