extended until 13.06. | #2709ARTatBerlin | Galerie Gilla Lörcher shows from 14th March 2020 the solo exhibtion with paintings by the artist Simone Strasser.

The exhibition is the second part of the three-part painting series, which gives an insight into the art of female contemporary abstract painters. After the exhibition by artist Ivana Klickovic, who lives in Berlin (17.01. – 28.02.2020), there is now the exhibition by artist Simone Strasser, who lives in Ingolstadt / Munich. The artist Simone Strasser has created an extensive painterly work since the late 90s. The small to large format pictures presented here in the exhibition are characterized by a lyrical abstraction. The paint application is gestural, the colors are sometimes matte to very intense. The artist often repaints the canvases in countless layers. The proportions of unprocessed or only primed but unpainted canvas vary. Simone Strasser writes about her work: “The format becomes an object, whereby the area is what interests me – if you can go into the real nothing, hold something for eternity that you cannot hold on to. The paintings are as figurative as they are abstract. I only work with perception and blindly transfer the motif to the canvas in action. The depicted, insofar as it does not tell its own story, is more or less recognizable. There must be clear realism in a single run, which does not come from the photo, and a feeling of having arrived. ”
