Sasha Gouliaev was born in 1966 in a small town in Russia. As a young man he was accepted at the Perm Ballet School. That was the beginning of his great journey, and it was a good start. He spent most of this journey at the Kirov Theatre. Obsessed with perfection and beauty, he worked non-stop until he finally won the trust of his ballet teacher. In the course of time he was able to dance leading roles with ballet stars such as Asylmuratova, Czeshikova and Kunakova. The great Rudolf Nureyev recognized the potential in him.

The feeling of emptiness that gripped his soul when he stopped dancing was quickly replaced by photography.

He studied graphic design and graduated in 2005. This was followed by the conclusion as a desktop publisher. He then studied photography at the Photo Academy in Amsterdam.
With his works he wants to show people that ballet is not only an art, but THE ART at all. His photographs show snapshots that show that no one else is able to achieve such superhuman perfection as the ballet artists.
