until 28.08. | #0611ARTatBerlin | Anna Jill Lüpertz Gallery shows from 19th July 2016 the solo exhibition “THE SEATTLE AND OSTEND TEXTS” by the artist Robert Montgomery.

Robert Montgomery’s exhibition at Anna Jill Lüpertz Gallery gathers together major recent works from Seattle and Ostend. In July 2015 as part of the All Rise Seattle project Montgomery took over an entire empty city block which is destined to become an electricity substation. He subverted and rewrote a text by Ezra Pound that wonders at the beauty of the electric city twisting the text to give it a contemporary perspective from the vantage point of ecological crisis.

In March 2016 he was invited by the city of Ostend in Belgium to make a permanent wall piece. This text again explores a kind of poetry of ecology/ecological crisis picking up threads from his Seattle texts, of which there was also an early echo in his project at Berlin’s Tempelhofer Freiheit in 2012. Anna Jill Lüpertz Gallery presents a documentation of the public works alongside new works in copper, wood and watercolour. In addition there is a major new light work in the courtyard garden of the gallery.

Vernissage: Saturday, 16. Juli 2016, 18 – 22 Uhr
