until 07.11. | #5171ARTatBerlin | Galerie Schindler presents from Saturday, 26. September 2026 in its new premises in the Villa von Kleist the exhibition AN DIE NACHTIGALL by the artists Kathrin Rank, Uta Reinhardt and Su Weiss.
The nightingale in the poem can be heard but not seen. It is there without being depicted. This is where the three painters converge. Each of them works on something that is present in the image without being depicted.

For Kathrin Rank, it is the moment. She constructs her landscapes from form and dissolution, from becoming and passing away. Water, fire, snow, and clouds symbolize the transition from one state to another. It is not the external space that carries the image, but the urgency of a moment that is already slipping away as we look at it.

For Uta Reinhardt, it is transformation. For her, an image does not illustrate a narrative; it becomes one itself. Within the image, she creates a space between nature and the man-made. Object, landscape, and abstract plane alternate, and the representation recedes behind the painting.

For Su Weiss, it is the feeling beneath the surface. She uses the classical themes of the interior and the landscape to explore memory and perception, not to reproduce reality. The horizon often serves as the baseline in the image. It is a metaphor for longing and freedom and, at the same time, the steady constant in the dynamic image.

Three paths, three artists, and works that open up spaces extending far beyond what is depicted—and thus present and welcome the new location of the Schindler Gallery in the von Kleist Villa.
