until 31.05. | #5070ARTatBerlin | Galerie Creative Game shows from Thursday, 14. May 2026 the exhibition Objekte by the artist Norbert Kluge.

Norbert Kluge liberates the objects he finds in his surroundings from their old functional contexts and places them within poetic, whimsical, grotesque, narrative and magical contexts.

He allows them to retain much of their own life. By respecting their past and dignity, they unfold a unique, new magic of the object. Kluge always adds something, creating new constellations and connections. Picasso is his great inspiration. You will no doubt recognise the familiar bicycle saddle and handlebars; in Picasso’s hands, they become a brilliantly simple bull’s head.

Kluge combines elements and creates new meaning, often resulting in whimsical nonsense. As an added bonus, he throws in a verbal twist, using the wordplay in his titles to add another layer of complexity that oscillates between profundity and nonsense.

Some of the objects and assemblages unfold their magical aesthetic magnetism perfectly well even without the whimsical titles. His objects and, in some cases, very serious configurations have their own history, their scars, their age, the charm of their patina, or they display the dignity of rust.

A good work of art, or indeed a found object, allows for a whole range of alternative interpretations. Perhaps the master’s title ideas are gateways into his very own world of cross-brushed words and artefacts, of past and present reality.

With his thought-provoking inventions, Norbert Kluge is a man of this world. He discovers, interprets and reimagines, and that is precisely what makes his works so appealing to viewers.
