untill 08.10. | #0695ARTatBerlin | Grimmuseum presents from 11th September 2016 the exhibition RECENT SILKSCREENS, FLATWARE AND A RED WALL by the artist Mike Hentz.

Grimmuseum is pleased to present the solo exhibition Recent Silkscreens, Flatware and a Red Wall by Mike Hentz from 11 September to 10 October 2016.
The Swiss-American artist Mike Hentz is rooted in music, performance and media art and has realized numerous actions, collaborative projects, concerts and performances since the mid 1970’s. He was co-founder of the performance group Minus Delta T, the artist group Frigo, Radio Bellevue and the European Media Art Lab, amongst others. In the 1990’s he started the projects Van Gogh TV and University TV, developing various interactive television events. In addition, he initiated art festivals and nomadic projects such as Odyssey and opened a cultural space in Hamburg harbour in 1995, called “das Treujanische Schiff”. Hentz was also professor at Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg.
As part of the Project Space Festival Berlin 2014 Hentz presented his performance Preview Tableau Vivant at Grimmuseum, an evening of dance, poetic drawings, installation and music.

The upcoming show Recent Silkscreens, Flatware and a Red Wall is the first comprehensive institutional exhibition presenting solely the artist’s objects and two-dimensional, visual works – referred to as „flatware“ by Hentz. The exhibited silkscreens, objects, photographs and slides were created in the past five years and take up the multifaceted range of motifs and the diverse materials, which Hentz had integrated in his earlier polymedia performances as visual features. Through reprocessing, translation and layering they bring forth new content and stand as independent work and yet they point to the richness and diversity of Mike Hentz’ artistic work as a whole.

On October 8 Mike Hentz and Ludwig Seyfarth will dj their selection of classical music at the Klassik Jour Fix, which they started in the 1990’s. Additionally, the book works 7, an overview of Hentz’ work, published by Edition Patrick Frey will be launched at Grimmuseum.

Vernissage: Saturday, 10th September 2016, 07:00 p.m.

Exhibition period: Sunday, 11th September until Saturday, 8th October 2016

Finissage/Book launch: Saturday, 8th October 2016, 07:00 p.m.
