bis 17.04. | #2983ARTatBerlin | EIGENHEIM Berlin presents from 6th March 2021 the solo show HOME OVAL OFFICE with new works by the artist Marc Jung.

With his exhibition HOME OVAL OFFICE Marc Jung catapults us into the absolute present. He deals with the invasion of the Capitol in Washington as well as with our mental and physical abysses. His titles bear impressive witness to this: Keine Zeit zu sterben (No Time to Die), Nasenscheidewand weggefressen (Eaten Away the Nasal Septum), and This is not a lovesong relate to a society caught between turbo-capitalism and loneliness, between hyper-effectivity and outsiderism, between addiction and longing. His pictures are icons of a pop culture that is in a state of change and dissolution.

In his works, the artist wages a battle between rules and anarchy, between harmony and destruction. His pictorial agenda of a societal sweeping contains reminiscences of Grosz and Dix, his direct-naïve style catapults Basquiat‘s expression into the here and now. His pictorial composition deconstructs Bacon and Velasquez beyond recognition. Thus, he combines the grime of today‘s street with the heroes and conceptual theories of established painting, playfully breaking traditional genre boundaries. Jung is a total realist who has made everyday madness his subject and depicts it in a very unique sarcastic and ironic way. For him, art is the gigantic funnel of an oversized meat grinder that sucks up all his daily observations, mashes them up, and spits out something that brings the multi-layered reality surrounding us down to a common denominator. When art does this job, it doesn‘t have to be beautiful, just honest – like a knockout.
