until 10.11. | #2216ARtatBerlin | KLEMM’S shows from 28th September 2018 the solo exhibition [[[GENAU]]] by the artist Keltie Ferris.
KLEMM’S is very pleased to present the second solo exhibition of works by New York-based artist Keltie Ferris (b.1977) at the gallery. The exhibition will bring together a new set of paintings and drawings by the artist.
Ferris is known for her expressive geometric color fields that synthesize an array of schools of painting, ranging from Abstract Expressionism to Graffiti art on her signature, large-scale canvases. With a specific technique of oil-based air-brushing and markings from other tools such as palette-knives, the artist constructs her rhythmic abstract language and layers of distinct, rich textures and marks on her paintings—simultaneously inscribing and removing her own presence on canvas.
Her new works presented at KLEMM’S now display an energetic shift towards a new sense of plasticity and expressive gestures. While maintaining her unmistakable unruly patterns and electric chromatism, Ferris’ recent paintings showcase a newfound sophistication in the pastose use of color and assertive brushwork, furthering her investigation about the ‘being of painting’.
