until 22.06. | #2432ARTatBerlin | Galerie Inga Kondeyne – Raum für Zeichnung presents from 10th May 2019 the exhibition by the artist Hanns Schimansky.

“In the folds, as others have already mentioned, the artist transfers a drawing into a physical presence, a palpable thing whose folded surface works together with the drawn forms. The distances that separate the forms are as important as the forms themselves. And yet, once again, it is impossible to recognize an underlying order in its placement. The realm in which they find themselves and which they define is completely abstract. We have experienced a world outside discursive language that is at once unapproachable and intimate, reserved and expressive. By going beyond the scope of language and its ability to verbalize, Schimansky achieves very differentiated and specific seeing and viewing. These circumstances mix unlikely possibilities such as awe and fear, playfulness and despair, community and isolation. Such strong, imaginative blends are important components in the regeneration of our daily lives. That’s why Schimansky’s work is so important.” John Yau, Necessary Drawings, catalogue: Hanns Schimansky La Ligne Claire, p. 69
