until 30.05. | #5034ARTatBerlin | Gallery Inga Kondeyne shows from Saturday, 25. April 2026 the exhibition „DIVERTIMENTO“ by the artist H. FRANK TAFFELT.

In this exhibition, H. Frank Taffelt presents new works that reflect on form, rhythm, geometry, symbolism, and material. They mark a clear shift in his artistic practice, which is moving away from strict geometric precision and increasingly opening up to process-oriented creation and intuitive form-finding. With the M. B. series, begun in 2023, whose initials allude to the Montblanc ink Mystery Black, the expansion of his formal vocabulary seems to have been finalized.

Structure and chance are intricately interwoven; the intuition of form merges with the regularity of the lines. Characteristic of these ballpoint pen works are the blurred edges and the relief-like texture of the surfaces, which, in their opacity, create a sense of depth and pulsate with the metallic sheen of the ink. Taffelt usually uses industrially produced papers as a support, whose high strength and smoothness withstand the ballpoint pen interventions, or found objects, whose irregular nature introduces a novel, simultaneously improvised and carefully calculated choreography into this body of work. The most recent KB. S. works, a series Taffelt has been working on since 2020, also testify to her ongoing interest in form, (ir)regularity, and rhythm. Torn pieces of cardboard, soiled boards, and perforated papers have replaced the whitened supports. Their extensive traces of use intensify the labyrinthine physicality and plasticity of the paper folds. Taffelt’s work is characterized by the process-oriented formulation of an elementary imagery that emerges in interplay with an increasingly object-like language of form, color and material.
