until 31.08. | #2767ARTatBerlin | Galerie Kremers shows from 19th June 2020 the exhibition with the Lerchenbaum sound sculpture and painting by the artist Gregor Hiltner.

“The lark sings for the last time in spring” is the title of a book by the German writer Johannes Mario Simmel. He describes the impending climate and environmental crisis and the associated likelihood of the decline of human civilization in a highly visionary manner. It is a very topical book today, although it was written over thirty years ago.

In the week, the shutdown was decided, Gregor Hiltner completed his large sound-sculpture “Lerchenbaum”, equipped with an almost invisible, high quality speaker system. Larks and other songbirds, most of which might no longer exist in the near future, can be heard in an overwhelming quality of sound. The sculpture was placed in the spacious “Gothic Hall” of the Berlin Galerie Kremers to be the centerpiece of an exhibition by the artist.

Along with the exhibition, a three-day music event, the “Lark Tree Concert Festival” for experimental chamber music was planned for April 24, 25 and 26. On each day of the festival a well-known electronic musician was to enter into improvisational dialogue with selected instrumental soloists and the sound-sculpture. The festival was organized and fully financed but unfortunately had to be canceled due to the corona shutdown.
