until 09.06. | #1951ARTatBerlin | ZWINGER Galerie shows from 14. April 2018 an exhibition by the artist Gerhard Faulhaber.
Gerhard Faulhaber’s new works expand his series of drawings after the early photographs of William Henry Fox Talbot.
In contrast to the fast medium photography (even if the exposure times lasted much longer than it is today) and in contrast to the immediacy and spontaneity, which is generally attributed to the medium of drawing, Faulhaber’s drawings are created by the time-consuming concentration of finest hatching.
The renunciation of contouring lines in favor of delicate shades of gray creates visual spaces of great attraction.
Some of the exhibited works can be assigned to a different group of works. Loosely linked to earlier drawings of illegal migrants, who are being made visible in their hiding places by means of X-rays of trucks, recent drawings show flying dealers on the beach, who in turn disappear behind absurdly stacked cheap goods. In their comedy, one could call these characters “victims of every observer” (W. Hildesheimer on Watteau’s “Pierro, called Gilles”) see.
Vernissage: Friday, 13th April 2018, 07:00-09:00 p.m.
Exhibition period: Saturday, 14th April – Saturday, 09th June 2018
