At the art fair paper positions berlin from April 26 to 29, 2018, about 46 selected international galleries from 11 countries will present their most important positions from contemporary and modern art with a focus on the material of paper.

Paper positions berlin will be taking place for the second time this spring – this time in the former telegraph office in Jägerstraße in Berlin-Mitte. Like last year, the art fair will again be held in parallel to the Gallery Weekend Berlin in 2018.

The central message of the paper positions is the material paper. You can see drawings, collages, silhouettes, texts, photographs, artist books and objects in an open exhibition format. By refraining from classic berths, the exhibition underlines the character of a large group exhibition. The spatial design offers the visitors in particular a both an open overview and the opportunity to perceive individual artistic works in mutual dialogue.

Important building in postal history as a new venue

The approximately 1000 sqm large hall in the capital representation of Deutsche Telekom provides paper positions berlin ideal conditions for the extended implementation of their trade fair concept. At the end of the 19th century, over 300 telegraphs were located in the hall, which was architecturally inspired by the Venetian Renaissance, with which the building complex was expanded in 1878 to become the Imperial Main Telegraph Office in the course of the union of post office and telegraphy. Even after the refurbishment, the original ceiling structure with the glass ceiling supported by cast-iron columns has been preserved, giving the generous space with bright daylight an airy and relaxed, salon-like atmosphere. The new art fair location is located in the heart of historic Berlin in the middle of the art hotspots Museum Island and Gendarmenmarkt as well as the galleries and art collections not far from Friedrichswerder Church built by Karl Friedrich Schinkel.
