until 05.06. | #2433ARTatBerlin | Michaela Helfrich Galerie presents from 26th April 2019 the exhibition The Figurine as a Measurement – A Retrospective with artworks by the artist David D. Lauer.
The materials and techniques used, whether bronze, marble, steel, gypsum, are diverse, always in perfect craftsmanship without room for errors in the pursuit of perfection. At the same time and in contrast to this, his drawings, spontaneously brought onto the sheet with speed, quickly and no less masterfully, are a sculptural work that is essentially oriented towards the human being.
David D. Lauer’s late works will be on public view for the first time in Berlin at the Gallery Weekend 2019.
Not only his own work, but also his teaching at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe from 1974 to 2004, are essential for Lauer’s career; Lauer lived and worked in Gleisweiler and Karlsruhe. He died in 2014 at the age of 74.
Parallel to this, the exhibition Different will be shown in the second room of Galerie Michaela Helfrich: Paintings by Simon Czapla, Ulrike Pisch, Gerard Waskievitz.
A tribute to dreams, chance and spontaneity in a constructive world.
