until 18.09. | #3114ARTatBerlin | EIGENHEIM Berlin shows from 1st August 2021 the group exhibition “THE COLLECTIVE EIGENHEIM – the community as a basis for activity” with the artists Gökçen Dilek Acay, Konstantin Bayer, Christoph Blankenburg, Anna Bittersohl, Benedikt Braun, Frederik Foert, Enrico Freitag, Rao Fu, Timo Herbst, Adam Noack, Stefan Schiek, Michal Schmidt, Pia von Reis and Kathryn Gohmert.

The guiding theme of EIGENHEIM Weimar/Berlin in 2021 is “the collective – the collective” and this open exhibition project is part of our annual program. Collective work is an essential part of cultural and artistic work. In the last 15 years a close community has developed between the artists and makers of the gallery. Many projects and artworks are the result of collaboration. Each artist has his own individual skills and concepts that are brought in as know-how. New works of the artists and guest artists are discussed, developed and realized just as extensive exhibition projects of the institution gallery. Collective acting and thinking needs time- and place-bound free spaces, which we want to make available in this exhibition project.

ART at Berlin - Galerie Eigenheim - Poster_Das_Kollektiv_Handlungsgrundlage

“The exhibition “Das Kollektiv EIGENHEIM” resembles a think tank and studio in which we pursue the question of what constitutes the collective in particular. What kind of spirit and what kind of versatile potential does a collective develop? We invite the artists of the gallery to develop new ideas in the group, to present their own works for discussion or simply to use the time for an intensive artistic exchange. Guests are invited, we have dinner together, we go on excursions together. All in keeping with the gallery’s understanding of itself as a “space for contemporary art and communication.” The gallery becomes an open working and thinking space – a large work table, tools and machines, an atmosphere that changes daily reveals the creation of artistic works and visitors have the opportunity to accompany this process, to enter into conversation with the artists and thus gain insight into individual and collective action. Especially after last year, which was marked by the pandemic, we feel that such an open format is necessary to give the community back the value that is so important to you.”
