until 06.07. | #1908ARTatBerlin | Galerie Berinson shows since 16th March 2018 the exhibition „Selling dreams“ with fashion photography for ‚Sibylle‘ by the artist Arno Fischer.
Arno Fischer (1927-2011), born in Berlin, is considered one of the most important photographers of the GDR. He also enjoyed great fame in reunified Germany.
The exhibition in the Berinson Gallery shows about 60 vintage prints from the 1960s and 70s by Arno Fischer, which he has taken for the well-known GDR women’s magazine “Sibylle”. In 1962 Arno Fischer became part of the editorial board. “Sibylle” was the most popular and at the same time the only lifestyle magazine of the GDR. Primarily, it devoted itself to fashion. As a special feature in the GDR, this journal must also be considered because the photographers were able to develop their artistic activity freely despite the authoritarian regime.
