until 02.12. | #4063ARTatBerlin | Galerie Schindler in Potsdam shows from 19th October 2023 the exhibition “sérénité” with new works by the artist Alvar Beyer.
sérénite: serenity – balance – in all tranquility
In Alvar Beyer’s most recent paintings, the pictorial has dissolved. By means of many layers, forms and structures worked over and into each other, the new works are created. They are more reminiscent of the interior of a landscape, the interior of a mountain or a situation under the surface of the water. In partially dark and garish colors, this previously unseen “world” shines. The view is led into space in the pictures.

Associations what color the mind or a thought have, or even what size they could have, arise when looking at them.

The running down of the color in some works is a metaphor of dissolution – of confusion. This seemingly destructive process is offset by the harmony and mood that the paintings nonetheless create.

Fragments of daily encounters in public space, which take place “on the edge,” are mixed into the images.
Alvar Beyer understands the process of painting as the visualization of a possibility. The moment in which a painting is completed is not predictable. It is the opposite of logic.
