Elfi Mikesch, Rosa von Praunheim and Werner Schroeter (1945-2010) embody a generation of exceptionally versatile artists, who have cooperated creatively with each other since their joint departure in 1968 and who have devoted themselves to a poetry of transgression in life and work. Elfi Mikesch, photographer, cinematographer and director, Rosa von Praunheim, filmmaker, painter, author and activist, and Werner Schroeter, film, theater and opera director – she unites her offensive advocacy for divergent sexualities and their artist friendship.

Following the film Poussières d’Amour (1996) by Werner Schroeter, the exhibition “Waste Products of Love” will for the first time present photographs, films, pictorial works, sound installations and documents in the form of walk-in spaces, which fan out the diverse aesthetic and biographical relationships , From their common roots in the West Berlin art scene, a bridge has been built over the past five decades to the present day.

In search of “other films, other images and other forms of life” (Mikesch), their gestures of emancipation flow equally from the artistic underground, political activism and expressive pathos.
