All art aspires to the state of music”, Walter Pater opined in 1888, and the line between modernist art and that most worthy of protection of all arts, music, is still at best a hallucinatory and slippery ridge. Through works by artists as diverse as Sean Scully, Kimsooja, Haroon Mirza, Naama Tsabar, Don Van Vliet and Jeremy Shaw, PARACUSIA attempts to trace the almost invisible steps of this passionate tango between these two ardent siblings: Sound and Vision. – David Dorrell, curator of PARACUSIA.
