The works of the eight winners of the Mart Stam Award 2017 will be exhibited from May 26, 2018 in the Kunstraum Kreuzberg / Bethanien. The annual Martin Stam Prize for graduates of the Weißensee Kunsthochschule berlin awarded by the Mart Stam Gesellschaft and the mart stam foundation for art + design consists of financing an exhibition and a catalog. The catalog, eight booklets in a slipcase, was designed by Fritzi Jarmatz. Protective charge: 10 EUR.
The noise of the construction site, the bright orange of the safety vests, the intrusive red-and-white stripes of the cordons; the beginning of something new: MARIA MIOTTKES Fashion Collection “Construction Site” reflects what happens on the street.
Rather muted colors, on the other hand, characterize the clothing collection »Formation« by ALINA RENTSCH and LUISA KLEEMANN: a system of individual parts that can be infinitely combined like a modular system, but at the same time universal.
LEON LASKOWSKI from product design developed the world’s first one-piece 3D-printed desk lamp with its “ALL IN” luminaire. It is made of one material, in one place and in one operation, including all mechanical components and specially developed friction hinges.
MAXIMILIAN BELLINGHAUSEN set itself the task of designing a tableware that incorporates the preparation of food in its shape and manner of production. In the work “Process & Plating” he developed five designs of specially shaped plates and containers for various applications such as cooking or frying.
ESSI-JOHANNA GLOMB, specializing in textile and surface design, invented, among other things, the “Smell Memory Box” for the preservation of individual human smells, for more sensuality in the long-distance relationship.
JOLANDA TODT, Masters Graduate Spatial Strategies, devoted herself to »GE-SCHICHT_EN« of her history, which is interwoven with world history. In a heavy-weight installation of concrete panels depicting archive footage and excerpts from an interview with her grandfather and photographs, she invites you to construct or de-construct a story.
RIE YAMADA, specializing in visual communication, realized a (re) construction of intimacy and privacy in her photographic work »becoming a family« with the means of a consistent self-staging.
The award-winning works were supervised by: Professors Doreen Schulz and Clara Leskovar, Professor Patrick Rietz, Professor Carola Zwick, Professor Dr. med. Zane Berzina, Professor Alice Creischer and Professor Andreas Siekmann, Professor Barbara Schmidt and Professor Jörg Petruschat, Professor Stefan Koppelkamm.
The Mart Stam Award 2017 was realized with the support of GASAG, BSR and ruksaldruck and in cooperation with the Kunstraum Kreuzberg / Bethanien.
