until 17.06. | #1282ARTatBerlin | C&K GALERIE shows from Gallery Weekend the exhibition „Es Geht Den Menschen Wie den Leuten“ by the artist Roger Wardin.

At the Gallery Weekend, C&K GALERIE will show the current series „Es Geht Den Menschen Wie den Leuten“ by Roger Wardin, whose work C&K GALERIE will present for the second time in a solo show. The painter shows once again that he is dealing with societal issues. In this new series, he deals with the changes in urban life that have arisen in the age of globalization. Wardin’s focus is on the special microcosm of the landscape of the inner city park, which brings nature into the city. Here, people from different social strata and cultures meet. This is precisely what is happening today, in the Görlitzer Park (Berlin), for example.

The artist seismographically reflects the actual state of the idea of the urban people’s park, which emerged some 100 years ago, and reveals the ambivalent state of this terrain as a mirror of the society. The park is not just a place for sports and leisure activities, nature experiences and quiet moments, but also a space that is used by marginalized groups or criminals as a refuge or centre for dealing. Attractive and repulsive things take place here as well, the “Idüll“ (= idyll, play on words) of the police arrest of a dealer and the idyll of a peaceful duck swimming on the lake are opposite coordinates of this set.

Wardin’s picturesque handwriting is characterized by the interplay of oil, acrylic and paints, overpainting, blurring, and a reduced colour palette, which underlines the exciting themes of his new paintings. In addition, the artist is interested in experimental and random processes, with colour deposits which decompose the painterly process and almost fade the pictoral objects, making the scenarios appear like film stills. Volatility and dissolution cause irritation to the viewer and only the artistic process can, for a moment, bring the conflicting and uncertain elements of reality into balance.

Roger Wardin born 1971 in Berlin; studied Fine Arts at Staatliche Hochschule der Künste/Städelschule Frankfurt a. M. and at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf with Prof. Jörg Immendorff; Erasmus scholarship at Glasgow School of Art; since 1997 he studied Fine Arts at Universität der Künste Berlin, 2011 degree, lives and works in Berlin.
