until 23.09. | #1490ARTatBerlin | Benhadj + Djilali gallery for design presents from 3rd August 2017 the exhibition “Le Zoo de Madame Y” with artworks by 23 artists and designers.
Where, my love, is our beauty in the beast?
A monkey looks at you. Ostriches, dead beetles, extinct fish. Paris Hilton and Lady Gaga’s dogs frozen in porcelain. Different creatures, objects, appearances drawn from flora and fauna and combined into a surreal whole. A cabinet of curiosities, both literally and metaphorically.
The exhibition Madame Y’s Zoo features works by 23 designers and artists. What they have in common is a direct or indirect echo of the animate, an animal show with plants, light and memories of a bygone age. At the same time the exhibition marks the one-and-a-half-year anniversary of Gallery Benhadj&Djilali with an insight into its cosmos: for the grand summer exhibition Yasmine Benhadj-Djilali has brought together her favourite artists and designers, who combine a range of different disciplines and approaches that escape easy categorisation. Some have already exhibited at the gallery, like Andrea van Reimersdahl, Zascho Petkow and Alfred Steffen who recently presented his Prince photos and is now returning with his ANIMALS group of works. Others are new, like Olivier Panama, Ina Sangenstedt, Andrea Salvatori, and Maria Volokhova who will also do a solo exhibition in autumn.
Artists and designers taking part: Atelier Haussmann, Heike Buchfelder, Sabine Delafon, Nils Fischer, Jesse Günther and William Rudolph Faulkner, Verena Hennig, Hettler und Tüllmann, Nicola Jungsberger, Peter Klare, Kai Linke, Andrei Loginov, Olivier Panama, Zascho Petkow, Andrea van Reimersdahl, Andrea Salvatori, Ina Sangenstedt, Alfred Steffen, Judith Stenneken, Tata Christiane, Maria Volokhova, YBDD
