until 21.01. | #3614ARTatBerlin | Galerie Barbara Wien presents from 10. September 2022 (Vernissage: 09.09) the exhibition Pear Lines by the artist Walter Price. It is the first solo exhibition of the New York-based artist.

Pearl Lines consists of seven paintings on wooden panels, eleven works on paper and the sculpture The weight of thought (2022), a suitcase to which books are attached.

Since 2016, Price has named all his exhibitions Pearl Lines. In a 2021 interview with Enuma Okoro in the Financial Times, he explains, “Repetition has a magical effect. It’s like a favourite song. I want to tease out this title the way a radio DJ does with a summer hit.

Price’s unconventional and intelligent works refuse any kind of restriction and formal limitations. His main interest is abstraction and the power and effect of colours, which sometimes manifests itself in works that combine painting and found objects. He often sticks drawings, notes or stickers on the painting surface and paints on wooden constructions instead of canvas, whereby the wide edges of the wooden objects become part of the picture.

Vernissage: Friday, 9. September 2022, 4:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Exhibition dates: Saturday 10. September 2022 – Saturday, 21. January 2023
