until 12.10. | #4366ARTatBerlin | Galerie Kremers shows from 13. September 2024 the exhibition Freischwimmer by the artist Tinka Bechert.

Originally from Berlin, Tinka Bechert (b. 1975) lives between Ireland and Berlin. Bechert completed her studies with a Masters in Visual Arts Practice at the Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology in Dublin.

She received the prestigious VAI Paris Centre Culturel Irlandais Residency Award in 2020 and has exhibited widely in Ireland, Germany, Canada and the USA.

Her work is represented in many public and private collections both in Ireland and internationally, including the Office of Public Works, the Arts Council Collection, the Victoria & Albert Museum and Tate Britain.

While originally working with figurative painting that referenced her own biography and her Berlin artists family Lepsius’ history, Tinka Bechert has since developed an increasingly unique, abstract visual language.

Elements form an independent rhythm that simultaneously sets the composition in motion while also binding it together. Colours and forms springing from the artist’s unique own language tempt the viewer to decipher the sometimes familiar, sometimes surprising juxtapositions of colour, tones and compositions for themselves. In “Constellations”, for example, a massive accumulation of bold colours and organic forms hovers effortlessly and weightlessly at the upper edge of the painting. Or is this structure actually somehow afloat on top of a green-dotted liquid?

In any case, the artist herself has been “swimming freely” for some time, both in her stylistic repertoire as well as in her fluid navigation of varying international contexts.

Galerie Kremers is showing works from her Berlin studio and works from her most recent exhibition “Paintings and Objects” at the renowned Royal Hibernian Academy of Arts, which took place this March in Dublin.

Addendum from 06.09.2024: However due to unfortunate circumstances relating to the post office and arrival of the works, the Vernissage will go through but might get replaced with a group exhibition with a fitting title called: “When the Postman rings twice” with works by Fiona Ackerman, Tinka Bechert, Virginia Glasmacher, Christine Nikol and Natascha Mann.

Vernissage: Friday, 13. September 2024, from 7 pm.

Exhibition period: Friday, 13. September until Saturday, 12. October 2024
