until 17.08. | #2524ARTatBerlin | Galerie mutare presents from 25 July 2019 an exhibition with paintings and sculptures by the artist Tamim Sibai and with paintings by the artist Kuisoon Park.
The exhibition, which will be shown from 25 July in the Galerie Mutare, presents works by the painter Tamim Sibai and the painter Kuisoon Park. Selected works by the two Berlin-based artists show expressive, imaginative and colourful works. The exhibition runs until 17 August 2019.
This second exhibition of the painter Tamim Sibai, born in Damascus in 1991 and living in Berlin, shows portraits on canvas as well as numerous expressive figurative works on paper. For Tamim Sibai, art is above all a means of confronting one’s own thoughts and feelings. What people hide in themselves, he wants to make visible, transforms his thoughts into thick layers of paint with coarse brushstrokes. He currently shows these themes in no less expressive, often light watercolours. Feelings, the interpersonal and the conflict between inner life and outer behaviour are the main concerns of his art. Faces are at the centre of his artistic work: “Sometimes I take the face as a theme, sometimes I show the theme through the face”. His pictures are lively and serious at the same time. Despite the wild and expressionistic tone, the figures show a certain calmness. An artistic balancing act …

Kuisoon Park’s paintings seem like frozen moments, yet clear and warm. They convey the feeling that time stands still. She takes her inspiration from her surroundings and searches for rooms from which a pleasant peace emanates. Her expressive, yet minimalist Berlin (city) landscapes, characterized by an absence of people, describe places that exist at the border between daydream and reality. With simple sketches she depicts reality. The colours and forms are abstracted, so that reality becomes blurred in the end.
