until 15.12. | #3262ARTatBerlin | Galerie mutare presents from 22nd November 2021 an exhibition of paintings by the artist Sabina Grzimek (opening: 26.11.) as part of the gallery project “Die neue Brücke – durch Chaos und Ordnung zur Freiheit”.
Sabina Grzimek was born in Rome in 1942, the daughter of the sculptor Waldemar Grzimek (1918-1984) and the painter Christa von Carnap (1921-2010). At first she lived in Berlin-Wilmersdorf, then in Erkner. After a practical year at the Meissen porcelain manufactory, she studied sculpture at the Berlin-Weißensee Art Academy from 1962 to 1967. From 1969 to 1972 she was a master student of Fritz Cremer at the Academy of Arts of the GDR; Cremer had married Christa Grzimek in 1953. Sabina Grzimek lives and works in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg with a summer studio in Erkner. Her awards include the Gustav Weidanz Prize (1972) and the Käthe Kollwitz Prize (1983), and in 2011 she was honoured for her life’s work with the Art Prize of the State of Brandenburg. Since 1970, her works have been present at exhibitions and are in public and private collections. In Berlin, Sabina Grzimek is represented by the Mutare Gallery, among others.
A brochure will be published to accompany the exhibition and a recent short film from the artist’s studio will be shown.
Opening: Friday, 26th November 2021, 5:00 – 8:00 pm. The artist will be present.
