Notes on the work complex ZEITRAUM NY

“…Another series is called “ZEITRAUM NY – Twin Towers” from 2001. When these works were created, the catastrophe of September 11, 2001 was still far away. The artist took the photographs of the towers of the World Trade Center in September 2000. Maria Maier was fascinated here above all by the clear form and the great complexity of the views of the architectural structure.”

Birgit Fechner

“The focus of my artistic work is expressive, abstracted painting. In addition, I also make smaller works on paper and ceramic objects. In their design I always use a collage technique: I work with glazes, layers, add all the components together and destroy them again in parts. By combining different layers, showing breaks and using transparent surfaces, she also wants to make visible what has passed and what lies behind.”
