until 10.10. | #5139ARTatBerlin | Laura Mars Gallery shows from Saturday, 05. September 2026 (Vernissage: 04.09.) the exhibition “re:kommunikation” by the artist Ronald de Bloeme.
re:kommunikation ̶ Ronald de Bloeme breaks the dictatorship of perpetual images.
From corporate branding to political glitches—the artist’s new works deconstruct the visual infrastructure of our present and reclaim autonomous vision.
Our present is a constant visual noise. Whether it’s trademarked corporate colors, algorithmic data streams, or politically charged campaign imagery: the human eye is exposed to an uninterrupted flood of signals that serve economic and ideological control. Under the title “re:kommunikation,” Berlin-based Dutch artist Ronald de Bloeme presents a new, radical series of works that isolate and deconstruct these sign systems, transforming them into precisely calculated paintings and serial graphics.
In his new works, de Bloeme delves deep into the visual capital of globalized late capitalism. His source material includes, among other things, advertising posters and logos from major corporations such as KLM, Heineken, and Deutsche Telekom. In doing so, he focuses on the absurdity of modernity: the patent protection of color. De Bloeme strips these legally protected hues of their advertising messages, fragments the logos beyond recognition, and liberates magenta, cyan, and green from their commercial servitude. On the canvas, they enter into a completely new, uncontrolled dialogue.

This exploration of visual power structures continues in the digital and political spheres. In another group of works, for example, the artist freezes the fleeting moment of a Google image search that has not yet loaded—the purely algorithmic grid of gray and pastel-colored placeholder areas becomes a contemporary color-field painting. A monumental painting based on a poster from the highly emotional Swiss SRG referendum campaign also marks a sociopolitical focal point of the exhibition. De Bloeme translates the digital “glitch” effect used there into a massive pictorial structure, thereby addressing the highly topical struggle for interpretive dominance in the media—an issue of severe and immediate relevance to the German political landscape.
The title “re:kommunikation” thus stands for an aesthetic recapture. By stripping the manipulative visual weapons of our present from their immediate legibility and transforming them into an unregulated visual composition, de Bloeme’s painting breaks the dictatorship of constant messaging. It forces us to question the very act of seeing and opens up space for what seemed long lost in everyday life: a radically autonomous, uncontrolled way of seeing.
