until 20.05. | #3813ARTatBerlin | Galerie Martin Mertens shows from 25th March 2023 the double exhibition by the artists Robert Bosisio and Pius Fox.

At first glance, the work of the South Tyrolean painter Robert Bosisio and the Berlin-based Pius Fox seems very different. While Fox moves predominantly in the field of abstract painting, Bosisio has been mostly concerned with the human body in recent years. Both painters share a great mutual esteem, so much so that they have proposed a joint exhibition. If one takes a closer look at the works of the two, one repeatedly comes across thematic points of contact and overlaps.

Among other things, the alternation between abstraction and figuration is central to both painters’ work. Above all, however, there are also similarities in the treatment of the painting surfaces with an application of paint in many glazing layers and the scratching and carving into the painting surfaces. A special sensitivity in the colour harmonies is also found in both artists.
