until 06.05. | #2409ARTatBerlin | Künstlerhaus Bethanien shows from 11th April 2019 the joint exhibition COME CLOSE & STEP BACK of the 2018/19 Winsor & Newton fellows Pia Krajewski and Irina Ojovan. The exhibition is curated by Jurriaan Benschop.

Ondulating hair styles, meandering endless arms, vases and jugs as protagonists of a pleasurable puzzle game and monochrome surfaces that hermetically cover underlying layers of paint or provide information about the past like a palimpsest – from the 10th century to the present. With “COME CLOSE & STEP BACK”, this year’s Winsor & Newton fellows Pia Krajewski and Irina Ojovan will provide an insight into their artistic practice and show new works in a joint exhibition curated by Jurriaan Benschop from April 10 to May 5, 2019.

Following the successful establishment of the Winsor & Newton Fellowship in 2017/2018, selected professors of painting in Germany were again invited to recommend artistic positions from their classes for two places at Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin. Starting October 1, 2018 and April 1, 2019, the scholarship holders* will receive a studio, a monthly grant for living expenses, curatorial and technical support, and a joint exhibition at Künstlerhaus Bethanien for six months each.
