unitl 01.06. | #4264ARTatBerlin | Galerie Thomas Fischer presents from 20. April 2024 (Vernissage: 19.04.) the Exhibition Petitessence by the artist Marcel Frey.

In his new exhibition in the gallery, Marcel Frey shows once again how closely he is connected to the image, even though he deals with objects, industrial finds or building materials. He transforms the gallery space on Mulackstrasse into an installation whose volumes, grids and surfaces are ultimately condensed into a kaleidoscope of two-dimensional, graphic images.

In his work, Marcel Frey (born 1980) focuses on both everyday objects and “design” objects. The things he finds already have a form before they become part of his works. By drawing on and reacting to found objects, Frey examines the question of methods of artistic production and decision-making. He changes the objects by repurposing them, painting over them, replicating them or making casts of them. In his exhibitions he composes ensembles or interiors that explore the interaction of objects as a unit and illustrate the artistic potential of the objects found in our environment.
