until 10.09. | #0669ARTatBerlin | Galerie aquabitArt shows from the 26th August 2016 the exhibition “DEVOTION / Hingabe” Utopian State of Mind by the artist Leonardo Ulian.

The Concept Space and aquabitArt, in association with The Moving Cube and The Byron Collection, are pleased to present an exhibition of works by London-based multimedia visual artist Leonardo Ulian at aquabitArt gallery Auguststr. 35, 10119 Berlin.

The exhibition of specially selected works from a unique commission by The Byron Collection, curated by KB Stowe, explores the relationship between technology and spirituality, raises questions on the extent of the devotion and worship of technology today and searches for an utopian state of mind through it.

Leonardo’s works are reminiscent of stained glass windows in Christianity, with its iconography and reference of spiritual symbolism.
However, the use of obsolete electronic components in the works acts as the lasting trigger.

The references, drawn from spiritual and emotional symbolism in Leonardo’s work, are very evident in the ‘Mandala series’ with certain recognisable references to the Buddhist and Hindu religions.
We see the suggestion of reincarnation of the soul as oppose to resurrection in the use of fading components, considered the core of any operational electronic systems.

Vernissage: Friday, 26th August 2016, 06:30 p.m.

Exhibition period: Friday, 26th August – Saturday, 10th September 2016
