Innokenti Baranov was born in Moscow in 1974. He studied graphics at the renowned art college in Moscow and painting and animated film at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna (Prof. Attersee). Since then he has exhibited extensively, particularly in Germany and Austria. Baranov works in Vienna, Moscow, New York, Berlin, Hamburg and Frankfurt as a painter, caricaturist and illustrator of children’s books. “Innokenti Baranov – an artist who defies categorization not only in his paintings – sometimes quietly and sensitively losing himself in the vastness of intuitive colouring, sometimes garish and direct, sometimes relentlessly open, almost brutal, but always focusing on the preciousness of the moment like an observer passing by as if by chance – but also through his person and the attitude revealed in his work, which breaks down and abandons the restrictive boundaries of literary meaning and creative conceptualism and throws itself into painting for the sake of painting, irrepressibly, lustfully, archaically. ” “His paintings are moments of immediate (experience) life.
