until 14.08. | #3093ARTatBerlin | janinebeangallery presents from 16th July 2021 an exhibition with works by the artists Juan Miguel Pozo and Inna Artemova.

Both Juan Miguel Pozo from Havana and the Russian artist Inna Artemova show semi-abstract, architectural objects and structures in their works. In the paintings and works on paper of both artists, not only places such as Berlin, Moscow and Havana, but also the characteristics of the old and new world, East and West, as well as utopia and dystopia come together as local and temporal entanglements.

Juan Miguel Pozo was born 1967 in Holguin, Cuba. During his time as an art student at the University of Havana a German journalist discovered him in 1994, drawing the attention of friendly artists like Konrad Klapheck on the Cuban painter. These artists advocated for Pozo‘s scholarship at the Art Academy Düsseldorf in Germany, enabling him to emigrate to Europe. The artworks of Juan Pozo are part of such renowned international art collections as Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), Ella Fontanals Cisneros, Pérez Art Museum Miami, Falckenberg, Ludwig, Nachmann and Sean Penn and many more.

Inna Artemova was born and raised in Moscow, Russia. From 1989 until 1995 she studied architecture at the Moscow Architectural Institute. In 1995 she received her diploma and the second Architecture Prize of the Russian Federation, after which she moved to Berlin. Inna Artemova’s paintings and works on paper have been exhibited internationally since 1998. In 2020, she was invited to the Lahore Biennale, “Between Sun and Moon” curated by Hoor Al-Qasimi”. Her artworks are in several private and public collections. Inna Artemova has lived and worked in Berlin since 1998.
