Biography – artistic career of Johannes Oberthür

1959 born in Kassel, Germany
1979 Abitur
1979-1981 Civilian service
1981 Move to Munich, studies of classical philology and philosophy at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich
1982 studies interrupted, free theatre work (direction) 1983 move to Berlin; autodidactic study of art (infinitely much learned with Prof. H. Bachmann, HDK Berlin)
1983-1986 First studio in Berlin
since 1988 exhibitions at home and abroad
1993 besides the artistic work and exhibitions continuation of the study of philosophy (2nd main subject: modern German literature) 1995 exam (MA) with Prof. M. Theunissen and Prof. A. Bennholdt-Thomsen
2000 Doctorate (Dr. phil.) with Dr. C. Iber and Prof. M. Theunissen

Johannes Oberthür lives with his wife and three children in Südholt (Lower Saxony) and Berlin; works here in a large studio on large formats, there in a small studio on small formats; teaches among others at the Free University of Berlin.

Vernissage: Friday, 15th March 2019, 7:00 bis 9:00 p.m.

Exhibition period: Saturday, 16th March – Saturday, 27th April 2019
