until 19.03. | #3375ARTatBerlin | aquabitArt Galerie shows from 8th March 2022 (Opening: 12.03.) in cooperation with the Galerie Sophie Vandré the exhibition Leben / Still-Leben / Memorabilia by the artist JEHAN. The exhibition takes place in the premises of aquabitArt Galerie at Auguststraße 35.
The exhibition of the recently founded Galerie Sophie Vandré shows a collection of expressive oil paintings that were created over the past years by the Berlin-based artist JEHAN.
His paintings show the vulnerability of the creature to the point of disaster. He paints to reflect on what he has seen, on what he has experienced. In this sense, his paintings are reminiscences. Painting for JEHAN always means “to paint anew” – in his own way, powerful, sometimes unpleasant, straddling the line between abstraction and representation.
JEHAN’s paintings are designed in bright colours, using impasto. Spaces become pure surfaces, without the illusion of light and shadow. Instead, there is a space shaped by sensations and imagination.
JEHAN, born in 1962 in Osterode am Harz (Lower Saxony), lives in Berlin. He works as a freelance layout artist. Inspired by classical modernism, JEHAN is a self-taught artist.
Galerie Sophie Vandré was founded in Munich in 2021. The gallery is committed to promoting lesser-known artists and designers whose works of art deal with our life conditions and diversity in an original and fresh way. With the exhibition of JEHAN’s works, the gallery makes its exhibition debut in Berlin.
