Paul Klee

Colour can be stimulation, meditation and passion. It can also evoke confusion, powerlessness and revulsion. Colouring is deeply subjective to perception and interpretation and fascinates viewers and artists alike. Since antiquity, science and art have been concerned with colour theory. Aristotle developed a concept based on seven basic colours that was valid until the 17th century.

The examination of colour theory culminated first with Goethe and then, at the time of the Bauhaus, with Johannes Itten. They prepared the theoretical way for the painters who, although working in abstraction or figuration, illuminated and illuminated the theme of INVENTING COLOR from a compositional and material-technical perspective in its transmedial significance.
