until 20.08. | #3502ARTatBerlin | Kuckei + Kuckei presents from 24. June 2022 the exhibition with paintings by the artist Ingmar Alge.
Ingmar Alge is one of the most important Austrian artists of his generation. Precise observations of social realities and their contradictions are at the center of his artistic research. With a keen sense for the sociological, the artist explores society’s rejects and internal emptiness. He sheds light on the magical dimensions of loneliness and melancholy, focusing their existential forms and thus working within the tradition of Romantic painting.
Ingmar Alge, Oberlicht, 2022, oil on canvas, 182 x 182 cm
He uses photographs as templates for all his works, randomly selecting these from the anonymous flood of mass-media images. Rather than transferring these to the medium of painting on a one-to-one scale, however, he moves increasingly away from the original image-template by taking away and repainting layer by layer photographic elements and details of actual significance. This process of continual over-painting, altering, sharpening or blurring characterizes the current works of Ingmar Alge.
Ingmar Alge was born in 1971 in Höchst, Austria. He lives and works in Dornbirn / Vorarlberg.
Opening: Friday, 24. June, 2022, from 6:00 pm
